Here are some WCS highlights from my sub-two-minute video update, for those of you without even that meager amount of time to spare:
I’ve been hanging out in East County, an unsung part of Portland called The Numbers. It doesn’t seem Fred and Carrie ever did a Portlandia sketch out here, though I’d love to hear about it if they actually did. That exportable “Keep Portland Weird” energy isn’t so much a thing around these parts.
Life’s a little drab in The Numbers. If Portland’s gun-metal gray winter skies are the curtains, The Numbers are definitely its drapes.
Still, I am glad to be here, trying hard not to work.
Having said that, my Friday newsletter is shaping up be to a New Year’s feast, with perspectives on San Jose State’s trans volleyball brouhaha, Amazon and Starbucks facing boycotts + some disturbing news I’ve learned about undocumented immigrant travelers who cross into Washington state.
Next week I’ll most likely cross into Washington. My paperwork is beyond reproach.
Today’s a great time to become a paid West Coast Sojourn subscriber.
