Somewhere within in all of this beauty is a little black cat who happens to be in heat. She’s a fleet and agile indoor cat and I’ve seen her a weave in and out of the flora.
Her call can be heard now and again.
I heard her just now. That cry sounds so needy. I keep circling the house, which I have lived in less that two weeks, making sure I’ve not missed her getaway.
She escaped the house on my watch. I’m okay with animals, but as someone on Quora said, you can’t make a cat come in unless a cat wants to come inside. I am carrying cat food in my pocket. That arching cry of hers comes every few minutes, and the sound is at once reassuring and frustrating.
I’m glad she’s nearby, but she sounds distant as fuck. Let’s face it, until dinner time, I’ve got nothing going on that can compete with what she’s trying to get crackin’ out here. And It’s unlikely I’ll do any work of substance today, as unfocused as this episode has me.
Getting the cat inside is absolutely beyond me. However, I have cooked up some singular content.
My session with Oregon artist, writer, and circus performer Zeloszelos Marchandt will be on next Sojourn podcast. Give me an extra day with that, please. And thanks to everyone who made my talk with Emily Kruger a big hit.
If you would like to help make up for my hours lost to a cat in heat, Venmo me.
Tried tuna?
The cat is was found. Thanks for your concern.
