System overload
Excuse Friday's flawed and recalled newsletter, look forward to next week's lode
If you’ve read the 38th West Coast Sojourn newsletter, you know yesterday’s take had tons of notes left in it. I certainly hope you noticed.
Well, Friday’s version has been unpublished and will remain that way at least until I can resolve the edit. Over the week, Sojourn editor Erica and I had produced one of our largest, most diverse weeks of content. Near the end, our system broke down.
We’ve learned from it. We apologize and intend to get that newsletter back online soon. A version I saw was actually the best one so far.
If it soothes ya, coming up this week is another large load of remarkable stories and analysis.
For starters, I’m fairly sure that we’ll be putting up an interview with my WeedWeek crony Alex Halperin. His new depth reporting on pesticides in legal Cali cannabis–with the LA Times’ Paige St. John–is Pulitzer-level investigative work. You’ll hear how the journalism came together. Next week will feature more Body High and the reader version of my talk with Roger Guenveur Smith.
Unrelated Tonight I’ll be at Taco Madness in downtown LA, saying what’s up to LA Taco Editor Javier Cabral, who published my 2023 Juneteenth perspective after Weedmaps dropped the edited piece without warning. LA Taco is in hardcore fundraising mode, and you might want to drop by and support an important Southern California voice.
It felt Joyceian and will be missed
