WCS 19 Oregon is super on drugs
Hunter Biden came to mind when I peeped a homeless encampment fentanyl deal
The cozy part about Portland having a big-time narcotics problem is that you’re only ever a few degrees away from it. A guy reeking of meth came by the place where I crashed through last week’s ice storm. If I’d any inclination at all to revisit that poisonous dope, dude’s presence might have been triggering.
It’s no one in the state’s favorite topic, but Oregon is hella on drugs. I saw the most heartbreaking fentanyl exchange, among the unhoused camping against the Pearl District building where Greyhound used to operate, around the way—for some reason—from the halfway house.
This was after my workout, and the sight of the deal—barter or sex barter or maybe I was wrong and they were just gifting in the 15-degree cold—got me thinking of Hunter Biden, an addict whom Congressional Republicans are set to grill about a bunch of stuff he did while fucked up on cocaine.
For a few years now I have had in my head the effectively suppressed emails and evidence of Hunter’s big-spending coke head behavior. But the pussy and the pissing away are only top line. It’s the fucking job of being an addict that people don’t see. Addiction is the gig you’ve got to tend to when it’s 15 degrees outside.
I know Hunter would love a bump right now. But that’s neither of our’s problem. Let’s count down.
While we Lakers fans wonder whether Hollywood has finally turned out Austin Reeves, sapping the Oakie of his bumpkin juju, professor Valerie Babb has been out touting her thoughtful consideration of Lebron James
10 Reversing Richard Simmons
The ever-fascinating Richard Simmons is reclusive and rarely heard from, but on Wednesday the fitness pioneer announced his disapproval of an announced Pauly Shore film portrayal of him.
Days later, Simmons shocked everyone by publicly endorsing the project. The debut of Shore’s sweet-spirited short film The Court Jester may have played a role.
TMZ
Shore premiered his flick late-night at the Sundance Film Festival. A rep for the Warner Brothers subsidiary behind the planned biopic said, "While we would love to have [Simmons] involved, we respect his desire for privacy and plan to produce a movie that honors him, celebrates him and tells a dramatic story."
In a 2024 introduction, Shore uses “gay” as a pejorative. And this Sundance crowd supports him in this. Hollywood is funny.
Lil hits
Californians couldn’t dig it when the Blazers Deandre Ayton missed a game because the ice encasing his Portland home. But y’all have no idea just how crazy the freeze got.
