WCS 5: Subtweet the Prevailing Narratives

Alright. We’ve been doing this about a month now. Thanks for continuing to trip with me.
One of the many positives about starting this West Coast Sojourn has been reconnecting with people from my past. Last week I started talking to illustrator Calef Brown. He did the 1997 LA Weekly cover for “The Delbert in Me,” the reported essay that became Ghetto Celebrity, my 2003 memoir.
He and I digitally ruminated on the terrible fact that the once-towering alternative newspaper’s archives aren’t available to the world. So much top-shelf writing ran in the LA Weekly. Also, Calef sent me a spot—an inside illustration from the layout from The Delbert in Me.
