WCS 74: Small news laughs for shite times
w/: DEI watch lists + Birth of an accelerationist nation + Seattle pro hoops
To be a shameless liar is beyond just about all of us. We lie, sometimes, and feel shitty about it. More frequently, we just don’t lie. The idea of telling massive lies over the world’s loudest amplification systems is beyond what the healthy among us can imagine.
International Business Eugenics leader Elon Musk lies to his cult of young men about being a world-class videogame player. Since being exposed as a fraud on Martin Luther King Day, Musk is a discredited among many of the young men who have been foundational to his fanbase.
Musk didn’t invent Space X or Paypal or Tesla’s technology, and he is not a world-class gamer. As with those other enterprises, the South African supervillain paid someone to do the work and reflexively took credit. He is, however, the perfect guest at a liar’s bacchanal.
Protest season opens

The eggheads over at Harvard and the BBC tell me that, historically, national populations consistently overturn totalitarian regimes at 3.5 percent public protest participation. This week, from Riverside to Seattle, from San Diego to Portland and nationwide, the people began to put up numbers. Participation was nowhere 3.5 percent, but there’s still time to get there.
And now for real-time non-fiction bits that far too few of you get to enjoy.
10 Accelerationism & The Birth of a Nation
One of my loved ones last year turned toward accelerationism, advocating for policies that destabilize existing systems and radically transform society. Today’s accelerationists see Trump as a good thing.
At first, the idea was worth scoffing at. Yeah, I want to rebuild society for the rest of my life. Then, two weeks ago I began the stunt of watching 1915’s deeply-influential racism tract The Birth of Nation. Now I’m seeing the virtue in Bring It All Down mode; simultaneously atching White supremacy function as a vector in the realignment of world geo-politics, I contemplating what It All is bound to be.
